How Can Someone Love, Praise, and Celebrate the Birth of a Savior; All the While Living in Pain or Suffering? Well, if we can see what it is that we are celebrating and we can accept our place in God's plan, than I believe we can celebrate fully, with all joy and gladness! Not just putting up a front, but truly having a peace beyond understanding that can only come from our Father.
Sounds Good, but You Don't Know What I'm Going Through. That's true to a point, but I've always said that I write because I am in pain. Out of our personal trinity; body, mind, and spirit, I have pain of the body, always. Not just that, but my pain is in large part because of the way I was made, malformed spinal bones. Now all of us have our individual crosses to bare; Jesus' words in the first three Gospels. The only way I know of dealing with my pain is to push away my own will, read Scripture, and pray that with the aid of the Holy Spirit, I can take on the will of the Father. If I don't do that, I get frustrated, angry, and depressed. Why? Because I am just a regular guy, less than that in truth, so I can't fathom what and why I am going through this. However, in the Word I find that He has a plan, and that because He loved me I am now a part of that plan and will play my part as He wishes. Then I find peace, because He has lovingly given it to me.
Good for You, But Really Celebrate the Birth of Jesus? Well, believe it or not, there are arguments from atheists to fundamentalists about the time, the way, and whether we should celebrate this season at all. Being a simple bloke, I'll put it this way. Without His birth, there would be no Christianity. The coming of Jesus was the birth of a fully God, fully man (okay, baby at this point) being and a fulfillment of prophecy. During the spring, when we celebrate Easter we must first go through our Lord's death. With the celebration of Christmas, we only have the miracles, wonder, and start of God's new Covenant. Look at Joseph and Mary. I love these poor people who were given the responsibility of raising God on earth, their poorness in material goods, the occupation of their land, and the shame they bore as Mary was found to be pregnant before the marriage was finalized. No running water, no bathroom, no electricity, no say in their own government nor rights, no assurance of work or food, and of course no room at the inn. In their hardships and sufferings, they brought about the Savior of the World. I know how easy it is to focus on our own pain or the problems we're going through, but I beg you; look at this little baby who had so much against him and remember that it is He who brings a new hope to the entire world. He is still with you and wants to have a loving relationship with you.
